Marge Engelman is the author of
Aerobics of the Mind
She has been studying and teaching for 25 years in the arena of learning in the
older years. Her original research focused on creativity in aging women.
She has a BA in Sociology, MA in Religious Education, MS in Environmental Design
and a PhD in Adult Education. She has developed and taught "Aerobics of the Mind,"
"Creativity in Aging" and "Improving Your Memory" to groups in retirement centers, senior
centers, adult day care centers and in workshops for leaders in the centers. She has
lectured throughout Wisconsin and at national meetings on topics related to learning
in the later years. She has taught in the Graduate School of Education at the University
of Wisconsin-Madison. She was a Governor's delegate from the state of Wisconsin to the
White House Conference on Aging in 1995.
Her book, AEROBICS OF THE MIND: Keeping the Mind Active In Aging, was published in 1995
by Venture Publishing at Penn State.
Marge is 72 years old and keeps her own mind active by learning paper making, raising
and decorating gourdes, and auditing classes at the University of Wisconsin-Madison
